Brand Animation for Collage Soup
A four second clip to be used as an intro/outro for social media videos that establishes the clients branding, company name, and matches the tone of their business.
Overview
Collage Soup is an AI generated magazine business targeted towards artists and hobbyists for making collages out of the torn pages. They came to me with this exact request: “Can you make a like 2 second intro and the same for the end with my brand? Does that make sense? I want to add my branding to all my videos.”
Problem + Goal
Collage Soup is developing a following through Social Media. Adding branding to their videos will help them reaffirm their brand, create consistency, and help their growth as a business continue. The animation needed to incorporate their logo, and capture the character of their business in 4 seconds.

Iterations
My animation’s composition and timing grew stronger with each iteration. In the first iteration I designed the logo to come together like torn pieces of collage, then once together for the butterfly to fly off the page. For iteration 2, I wanted to keep the butterfly in the frame rather than having it fly off so that the logo would be complete in the final frame. After some feedback from animator colleagues, iteration 3 attempted to have the butterfly fly into the frame. This felt promising, but the timing of the butterfly coming in compeated too much with the torn paper also moving. I adjusted the timing of the butterfly’s entry to be delayed longer and changed flight pattern of the butterfly to create more intrigue. I also cleaned up the butterfly’s landing, and the final animation was complete.

Learnings
The willingness to ask and accept feedback from other animators pushed my final design to the next level.
A complex action like flying can be broken down into a few simple poses. In the case of the butterfly, 3 poses was all that was neccessary to acheive the illusion of flapping wings.
